NetObjects, Inc. today announced it acquired the market-leading Acadia Infuse and JavaScript Bean Builder scripting products from Acadia Software, Inc. to extend its offering of authoring products for Web
professionals.

Acadia Software will continue to pursue its technology consulting and business applications practice. Financial terms were not disclosed.

NetObjects has enhanced Acadia Infuse and is offering it as a standalone
product, NetObjects ScriptBuilder 2.0, starting today. NetObjects
ScriptBuilder 2.0 is the first scripting product that provides client- and
server-side scripting while supporting competing scripting standards
JavaScript, JScript, and VBScript.

In addition, under the terms of the acquisition agreement, Netscape Communications will continue to license the JavaScript Bean Builder product from NetObjects for inclusion in its SuiteTools 2.0 offering.

NetObjects ScriptBuilder is the first product to be delivered by
NetObjects’ Application Development Tools division, a newly formed business
unit chartered with focusing on the needs of application and enterprise
developers.

NetObjects ScriptBuilder offers scripters and advanced HTML authors a
powerful script editor that combines rich development tools with a point-and-click environment to enable rapid creation of both client- and server-side scripts.

Using NetObjects ScriptBuilder, Web developers can write scripts to add sophisticated animation effects and interactivity, advanced transaction capabilities, and other sophisticated application functionality to their Web sites.

The product supports the divergent Netscape and Microsoft Web scripting environments, providing full support for HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, JScript, VBScript, Netscape’s Livewire extensions, and Microsoft’s Active Server Pages extensions.

NetObjects ScriptBuilder is designed to facilitate client- and server-side
scripting for the Web. The product bridges the gap between high-end and
proprietary server-side development tools like Microsoft’s Visual Interdev,
and HTML products like Allaire HomeSite and Microsoft FrontPage 98.

NetObjects ScriptBuilder will be available for an estimated street price of
$99 through a wide network of distributors and resellers. Current Acadia
Infuse customers who purchased the product directly from Acadia will be
able to upgrade to NetObjects ScriptBuilder 2.0 for free.

In addition, those customers who received a free copy of Acadia Infuse when they
purchased NetObjects Fusion for Windows will be eligible for a $49 upgrade.
