O’Reilly Ships WebBoard 3.0

O’Reilly & Associates this week announced it is shipping WebBoard 3.0, the enterprise version of the company’s IRC-chat and forums software.


The latest release of WebBoard 3.0 includes ConferenceRoom Professional from WebMaster, Inc., as well as the 368-page book entitled “Conferencing with WebBoard” by Susan Peck and Jay York.


Many popular sites have created dynamic online communities based around
O’Reilly’s WebBoard, including the business magazine Fast Company, the multimedia
division of worldwide software leader Autodesk, and the
upcoming movie Godzilla.


WebBoard 3.0 offers many new features, including:



  • An enterprise edition that scales to meet the needs of extremely busy Web sites
  • IRC Chat Server that allows 1,000 simultaneous users
  • Traffic logs that can be read by stat programs
  • Support for SQL database
  • Integrated mailing list server for off-line conference participation


WebBoard 3.0 has a retail price of $699, with special upgrade prices for
registered users of WebBoard version 2.0. The product is available for
Microsoft Windows NT/95, and ships with its own internal Web server.
