Sun Microsystems, Inc. this week announced the release of Java JumpStart, a package designed to increase productivity by giving developers easy access to the latest Java development and deployment technology from Sun.
Java JumpStart is a CD-ROM package of tools that enables developers, vendors
and system integrators to design and create 100% Pure Java applets and
applications.
The package includes:
- the latest Java Development Kit (JDK) software
- the Java Plug-in software
- online books
- sample code
- extensive documentation
Java Plug-in allows developers to deploy applets that utilize the latest
capabilities and features of the Java platform, while maintaining the
consistency needed to run reliably and consistently in the latest browsers
from Netscape and Microsoft.
The Java JumpStart CD provides developers with fast access to over 600
megabytes of Java software and resources. Additionally, the collection
features online books from Addison-Wesley, documentation for the Macintosh Runtime for Java, and all of the older versions of the JDK.
