World Wide Web Consortium member Veon, Inc. today announced the Veon Media Activation Server for the development, delivery, and management of SMIL-based applications for RealNetworks’ RealSystem G2 streaming media system.

The new server will allow Web and broadband content providers to take pre-existing media content and automatically convert it into SMIL and RealMedia formats, thereby quickly turning static content into dynamic, media-rich applications.

The integration of Veon Media Activation Server with RealSystem G2 gives
developers the unique ability to create a single ActiveSMIL template that
can then generate thousands of unique, media-rich presentations from
existing databases.

Veon, formerly Ephyx Technologies, also provides VeonStudio, a set of tools for authoring interactive video applications, to enable developers to rapidly develop and deploy responsive applications that include video shopping, interactive entertainment, corporate training, and distance learning.
