Infoseek Corp.
announced Tuesday it is parterning with Hewlett-Packard Co. in a deal that will make
Infoseek’s Ultraseek Content Classification Engine the featured classified
engine of HP’s Covision program.

The Ultraseek engine allows businesses to easily index and search content
stored on intranets and the Internet. The product was introduced in
November and works in conjunction with Ultraseek Server 3.0.

HP’s Covision program brings together a variety of partners to integrate
Internet applications and services with HP’s computer technology. The
program provides businesses with turnkey Internet and intranet solutions.

“Ultraseek Server delivers on our charter to offer HP customers the highest
quality Internet applications available,” said Greg Mihran, director of
Internet business development for HP’s personal systems group.

“Content is expanding rapidly on intranets and Web sites and our customers
need the robust search and index system Ultraseek provides. With HP systems
and service and Covision alliances with companies like Infoseek, we offer
our customers high-quality, comprehensive Internet solutions for the
enterprise,” he said.

Ultraseek Server 3.0 added several enhancements, including the ability to
index documents created using the Extensible Markup Language, or XML,
support for Secure Sockets Layer encryption, the ability to manage indices
and URLs on mirror sites and multiple language support.
