IntraNet Solutions Eyes Digital Printing

IntraNet Solutions Tuesday
extended its tendrils into the printing arena by licensing its
Web-based content management products to printing dynamo IKON Office Solutions.

Although the firms claim the deal has multi-million dollar potential,
initial terms of the deal were not made public.

IntraNet Solutions’ product suite will be employed as
the core architecture for IKON’s Digital Express® 2000, a document
repository system with hosted document and customized order management
capabilities.

This tool features print-on-demand and distributed printing options, which
allow business users to send print jobs from their desktops via the Web for
printing and distribution.

In addition, IKON was awarded the exclusive right to sell IntraNet
Solutions’ Intra.doc! products to the graphic arts/commercial
printing industry, as well as non-exclusive rights to market Xpedio,
IntraNet Solutions’ Web content management system in the United States and
Canada.

Robert Olson, president and chief executive officer of IntraNet Solutions,
said the play was another example of how his firm’s content management
solution accompanies a variety of vertical B2B markets.

In the past two months, INRS has inked similar alliances with Netegrity Inc. , Compaq Computer Corp. and
Yahoo! Inc.

“We believe IntraNet Solutions’ Web-based architecture is well suited to
meet the needs of our customers in the graphic arts community and will
accentuate Digital Express 2000’s ability to help IKON’s business customers
save time and money by securely managing their print jobs online,” said
Barbara Pellow, senior vice president of marketing for IKON Office
Solutions.

With fiscal 1999 revenues of $5.5 billion, IKON has nearly 900 locations
worldwide including the United States, Canada, Mexico,
the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Ireland and Denmark.
