Lycos Inc. continued its integration of
popular products Tuesday with its procurement of the Allaire Corp.’s ColdFusion intranet
platform to develop its e-commerce destination, LYCOShop.

ColdFusion enables Lycos (LCOS) to bundle best-of-breed merchants into LYCOShop, its new online shopping destination and transform a vast network of merchants into one
comprehensive shopping experience.

LYCOShop has integrated retail shopping with online auctions and
classifieds into a seamless shopping destination. At LYCOShop, shoppers can
research products they want, consult with others regarding their purchase
decisions and buy from multiple vendors all in one place.

Allaire (ALLR)
ColdFusion is a leading cross platform Web application server. It provides
a complete platform for building and deploying enterprise Web systems that
integrate browser, server and database technologies. ColdFusion is used by
more than 3,500 companies worldwide for solutions ranging from e-commerce
to content management to business automation on Intranets, extranets and
the Internet.

“Lycos is clearly one of the premier businesses on the Web and its
selection of ColdFusion to launch its new e-commerce initiative, LYCOShop,
further validates our strategy of providing companies with an open platform
for successfully conducting commerce on the Web,” said Jeremy Allaire,
co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Allaire.

“By leveraging the Allaire platforms’ extensive integration capabilities,
Lycos has created a unique shopping experience providing customers the
benefits of thousands of stores, all in one location. This is a business
model that we anticipate many companies will emulate in the future to
successfully gain a competitive advantage over traditional businesses.”

This was just one brick in the building of a busy day for Lycos, who also
introduced a hybrid Web site that merges offline and online auctions with
the help of brick-and-mortar U.S. auction house, Skinner. The new site will
auction couture, fine ceramics and jewelry, including items from Dior, Wedgwood and Cartier.
