Lycos Opens Virtual Department Store

Lycos Inc. Wednesday
opened the Lycos Store, an online department store carrying thousands of
products and more than 200 brand names.

The store will feature everything from jewelry to golf equipment
to toys. The site will be linked across the Lycos network, which includes
search engine HotBot, the directory WhoWhere and Web community Tripod.

Customers can browse by product category, merchant or price range as well
as search for a specific product.

Bob Davis, Lycos’ president and chief executive officer, said the store is
perfect for online shoppers who want a one-stop shopping experience.

“Whether they want the chance to browse a diverse collection of merchandise
or to find a specific item, the Lycos Store is the most convenient single
source on the Web,” he said.

Lycos will use OrderTrust’s integrated network services to process orders
and manage merchandise, fulfillment and accounting.
