Network Associates
Inc.
unveiled Merlin Enterprise, a service application designed to work
with Microsoft’s SQL Server 7.0, this week at the Comdex trade show.

Merlin is designed to provide a central repository and interface for
network and desktop issues, allowing IT organizations to quickly respond to
network problems as they occur.

Merlin employs a Web browser interface that does not require
knowledge of Dynamic HTML or other programming languages. Its N-tier design
follows Microsoft’s Dynamic Internet Architecture (DNA), incorporating
Visual Basic business objects and operating under Microsoft Transaction
Server.

“Merlin is a highly scalable service desk solution that offers IT support
organizations both large and small, an easy-to-use, customizable user
interface and advanced automated response and event management capabilities,”
said Tim Davis, product manager for Network Associates’ Total Service Desk
division.
“Our customers who are seeking the best service desk solution for
their SQL Server-enabled enterprise will find Merlin to be an essential and
effective support tool. Merlin Enterprise’s support of SQL Server 7.0 will
bring even more flexibility and scalability to an already robust service desk
solution.”
