Netegrity Inc., a provider of software and services for controlling user access to e-commerce applications, signed a deal by which
Netscape Communications Corp. will resell Netegrity’s SiteMinder secure user management software.
Netscape will offer Netegrity’s secure user management
solution, which has been tightly integrated with Netscape Directory Server, to
deliver a comprehensive and scalable solution for customers building Web-
based e-commerce applications. Financial terms of the agreement were not
disclosed.
This agreement builds on Netegrity’s previously announced agreement with
Netscape’s Government Group and will be phased in over 1999, the companies
said. Effective immediately, Netegrity and Netscape will jointly focus on
delivering Web-based e-commerce applications to select Fortune 500 customers,
in addition to federal, state and local governments.
The combination of the Netscape Directory Server and SiteMinder offers a
secure user management solution by providing centralized access control and
single Web sign-on across heterogeneous Web servers, operating systems and
application development platforms currently in use in the corporate network, the companies said.
“Customers deploying Web-based e-commerce applications have expressed a
strong need for centralized access control and single sign-on,” said David
Weiden, vice president of Netscape’s Directory Server and Security Products.
“SiteMinder allows us to offer an integrated solution that meets the
significant scalability and security requirements of customers operating
strategic e-commerce Web sites.”
