Salesforce.comCOO Phill Robinson bid adieu to the
on-demand business software firm Monday to become CEO at CacheLogic, a
UK-based online content delivery network company.

Robinson, a 20-year software industry veteran, joined Salesforce.com in
2003 and served in a variety of executive management roles, including senior
vice president of marketing, chief marketing officer and COO for sales and distribution.

The move represents a homecoming for Robinson who, prior to working out
of Salesforce.com’s San Francisco office for the past two years, spent the
bulk of his career in the UK working his way up the ranks for enterprise
software giants Oracle , Sybaseand
Siebel Systems.

“We made a decision as a family to come back to the UK, and I’m really
excited about this opportunity,” Robinson told internetnews.com.
“Throughout my career, I’ve identified the characteristics of early-stage companies that we’re going to be successful, and I believe I’ve also found that here at CacheLogic.”

In November, George Hu replaced Robinson as Salesforce.com’s CMO. In
an e-mail to internetnews.com a company spokesman wrote that “the
duties of the COO of sales and distribution have been distributed among
other executives” adding “we wish Phill the best in his new endeavor.”

Founded in 2004, CacheLogic specializes in the online distribution of
large blocks of digital media assets such as movies, games, audio files and
software downloads. The company employs less than 70 people compared to more
than 2,000 at Salesforce.com.

“I’m no stranger to small companies,” he said. “I was one of only four
people who started the Siebel group in Europe. People working at large
companies don’t often think about the early days. But there were some.”
