Security Dynamics
Technologies
launched today the SecurID Protected Program, a user
authentication system designed to assist companies in incorporating the
technology into their own extranets and virtual private network (VPN)
products.

Security Dynamics’ SecurID technology provides two-way user authentication,
which aims to prevent unauthorized access to secure data hosted on
corporate networks.

Prior to accessing a corporate VPN or extranet, a user will be asked to
enter a PIN (personal identification number), as well as a unique tokencode
generated automatically every 60 seconds. The two means of authentication
aim to strengthen the level of security when blocking unwarranted access to
secure data.

Aventail Corporation and Bay Networks are charter members of
the program. Under the terms of the membership, the two companies will be
able to bundle Security Dynamic’s authentication and token technology with
their products: Aventail with its VPN product line, and Bay Networks with
its Extranet Switch solutions.

The SecurID Program provides members with a two-user license to its
ACE/Server authentication and security administration software, as well as
two SoftID software tokens.
