AOL Europe Tuesday expanded its marketing agreement with Verio, naming the Internet services company its exclusive e-commerce, Web-hosting and domain name registration provider for
Netscape Online, AOL’s new free service in the U.K.
Under the agreement, Verio will market its services on specific Netscape Online channels through static buttons and banner advertisements. A co-branded Verio@NetscapeOnline page will target the UK market.
“Through our previous exclusive marketing agreement, Verio proved to be an outstanding partner for AOL UK,” said Karen Thomson, AOL UK’s managing director. ”
“The UK market represents an integral part of our ongoing effort to build upon our world-leading Web-hosting position,” said Justin Jaschke, chief executive officer of Verio.
“The AOL and CompuServe campaigns launched earlier this year have already provided Verio with an excellent presence in this fast-growing market. Through Netscape Online, we look forward to helping more individuals and businesses build on-line storefronts so they can tap into the global Internet marketplace.”
AOL Europe, a joint partnership between America Online Inc. and German publishing powerhouse Bertelsmann AG, was launched in 1996 and now boasts a subscriber base of 2.7 million households across eight countries.
