Avenue A’s Mike Galgon to Speak at March IBF

Internet.com is gearing up for its upcoming Seattle Internet Breakfast Forum (IBF) to be held at the Seattle Sheraton on March 21 from 7:45am – 10:00am.

The keynote speaker at the breakfast will be Avenuea A Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer Michael Galgon, who will be sharing his views on the future of digital marketing.

Perceiving online advertising was not advancing rapidly enough to meet the demands of marketers, Galgon co-founded Avenue A in 1997 to drive the development of digital marketing and technology. He served as president and general manager of the company from 1997-1999.

As chief strategy officer, Galgon continues to oversee Avenue A’s strategic direction, including the company’s
business development initiatives and marketing efforts.

Galgon is a frequent speaker at advertising and Internet conferences, most recently at @d:Tech New York.

In a pre-IBF interview earlier this week, Galgon told seattle.internet.com that when it comes to digital marketing, it’s all about data.

According to Galgon, in the old world, marketing was a subjective, intuitive art that was informed by, but not driven by, data. “In the digital world, marketing will be a scientifically driven discipline. Data, analytics, and optimization will enable new types of customer knowledge, more rapid testing and rollout of products, and more precise and effective communication of benefits.”

We asked Galgon, a former officer in the U.S. Navy, how his military experience has helped him to better steer the corporate ship. According to Galgon, the rules are the same: making things happen is all
about people, whether in the navy or in the business arena.

The upcoming Internet Breakfast Forum will be the sixth one to be held in Seattle. This month’s IBF sponsor, Delano, will be holding a business card drawing for a $200 gift certificate to be used at the Seattle french restaurant Campagne.

Registration for the free Internet Breakfast Forum is available online.
