After launching their latest product line this week, AVT Corporation decided to celebrate by changing their name.
AVT Corporation, announced that effective next week, the company will change its name to Captaris, Inc., and begin trading under the symbol CAPA on the NASDAQ.
The name itself, according to company officials is derived from two Latin words, capto and aris, meaning to strive or seize and freedom or movement, respectively.
While the release and the product were somewhat unrelated, the unveiling of the company’s latest wireless solution package seemed like an appropriate time to make the change from AVT, which stems from the company’s eighteen-year-old original name, Applied Voice Technologies
“We believe our re-branding efforts and investment in building the Captaris brand can provide an image and identity that will support our long-term growth plans,” said David Anastasi, president and CEO of Captaris.
In addition to the name change, the companies tagline will be changed to “Business Within Your Reach” as part of the re-branding.
The Kirkland-based provider of unified communications and mobile business solutions, launched their next-generation of its Infinite mobile wireless software product line this week, which allows users to access corporate messaging and business data from internet-enabled mobile phones and wireless devices.
“Today’s on-schedule launch is the next step in our previously announced business strategy and emphasizes our continued commitment to aggressively expand our presence in the mobile wireless market,” said Anastasi.
