Online book retailer barnesandnoble.com Tuesday
expanded its product line to include rare and out-of-print titles.
The retail site has entered into agreements with Advanced Book Exchange
(ABE), Northern Light Technology LLC
and Blue Mountain Arts to provide
expand its selection to include more than 2 million used and old titles and
comprehensive information on a variety of subjects, with more than 5
million newspaper and magazine articles.
New features include a holiday gift center, customer reviews, personal
recommendations, a new kids area, and a bricks and store locator.
“Our new site takes online bookselling to a new level,” said Steve Riggio,
CEO of barnesandnoble.com. “Today, we’ve created an online resource center
that allows us to deliver to customers not only in-print titles, but also a
vast in-stock inventory of out-of-print and rare books as well as articles
that match their interests. We’ve also introduced a holiday gift store
featuring an online personal adviser and an unparalleled kids section, all
supported by a bold new design.”
barnesandnoble.com is a recent spin-off of Barnes & Noble. The unit recently
filed for a $100 million initial public offering.
