Blue Cross of Atlantic Canada launched a database-driven bilingual Web site built by Internet development company Bowne
Internet Solutions
.

The initial launch is to be followed this Fall by three private sites
for the company’s health care providers, group plan administrators, and
agents. The site is powered by ME! 4.0, Bowne’s flagship relationship
software.

A key feature is the Health Journal which allows users to create
personalized online notebooks for storing emergency contacts and keeping
track of medications, immunization records, and allergy symptoms.
Registered users also can save shortcuts to any page on the site in a
personal bookmark area.

Customers can submit requests online to update a change in address or
replace an identification card. Additional content includes an
interactive health quiz, wellness tips, and personalized health plan
calculations.

“Health care management companies traditionally have not offered
customers Internet services of this nature,” noted Bowne Internet
Solutions’ CEO, John Long. “Features like customization and the Health
Journal enable Blue Cross of Atlantic Canada to provide high-utility
Internet services that invariably bring customers back to the site more
often.”

Blue Cross of Atlantic Canada is the largest provider of benefit
programs in Atlantic Canada providing health, dental, travel, life, and
disability income benefits to over 600,000 Atlantic Canadians.
