[London, ENGLAND] Mobile Internet software provider BlueKite.com
Monday reported that its software will be incorporated into
high-speed wireless Web access solutions developed by
Dutch telecoms operator Telfort.

The two companies say that the new system will enable access
to the Web from mobile devices at speeds matching or beating
56kbps fixed-line connections.

Speed of access is one of the key issues in getting the wireless
Internet accepted by users. Richness of information is traded-off
against speed of delivery — and until the new systems are in
place, customers should not expect the best of both worlds.

The BlueKite software is said to enable faster downloads and
improved performance, effectively delivering rich content to
mobile computing devices. Its solution enhances wireless Web
browsing speeds by a factor of 5 and bandwidth efficiency on
packet-based networks by a factor of 8.

“By combining BlueKite’s software with Telfort’s GPRS services,
Telfort customers will enjoy the real benefits of the mobile
Internet for the first time,” claimed BlueKite Managing Director
Jan Wiejak.

Wiejak said the roll-out of the GPRS market would continue
to gain momentum across Europe during 2001 and he expected
his company to be at the forefront of developments.

Recently, BlueKite extended its relationship with BT Cellnet
in the U.K., providing wireless Web optimization for BT’s
GPRS services.

A California-based corporation, BlueKite is becoming
increasing active in Europe where mobile Internet
usage is expected to become very widespread, very quickly.

BlueKite will be demonstrating its bandwidth optimization software
at the forthcoming 3GSM World Congress (“The World’s Mobile
Meeting Place”), to be held at the Palais des Festivals et
des Congrès, Cannes, France, on February 20-23, 2001.

Other BlueKite users include Connect Austria, Sprint PCS,
Swisscom Mobile and Telecel — all of which have built mobile
Internet services based on BlueKite’s DataReduxion technology.

In Europe, BlueKite has operations in the U.K., France, Denmark,
and The Netherlands.
