Cabletron Systems has won the Asia Pacific Switched LAN ShootOut.

The contest is the regional version of a similar events held in Europe and the United States and was held in Beijing, Hong Kong, Sydney and Tokyo.

The ShootOut included an interactive seminar that offers senior networking personnel the opportunity to examine products and services demonstrated by industry vendors.

Robert Mandeville, a testing authority on switching, managed the seminar, delivered tutorials, and refereed the ShootOut and also delivered.

“One of the key concerns for most network professionals in the region is
how to cut through all of the hype associated with networking,” said
Mandeville. “The ShootOut enabled network managers to compare and contrast real-world
switched LAN solutions in a live, open and challenging forum.”

In addition to Cabletron, 3Com, Nortel Networks, and Cisco competed in the ShootOut in the presence of around 1,000 enterprise network managers.

“The ShootOut was a uniquely informative event,” said Trent
Waterhouse, Cabletron’s senior technology architect. “It gave Cabletron a chance
to communicate our SmartNetworking solutions in a highly competitive and interactive format to top decision-makers and opinion-leaders in our key markets in the region.”
