China Reaches 8.9 Million Users, Sina Tops Rankings Again

China’s version of InterNIC, the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), has determined that China has 8.9 million Internet users in its biannual survey.

Moreover, Greater China’s Sina.com has won the number one spot in the CNNIC survey’s ranking of China’s top 20 Web sites.

In the survey which included over 200,000 participants, Sina votes,beat out competitors 163.com (Netease.com) and Sohu.com for the second time in six months. However, the competition was close with 163.com attaining second place with 57,164 votes and Sohu.com receiving 56,147 votes next to Sina’s 63,918 proponents.

Nasdaq’s top Asian performer China.com gets good marks for improvement. It rose to number eight from its 39th ranking six months ago and its sister site, China Wide Web, was ranked number 14 this year.

All the sites that made it into CNNIC’s top twenty are listed below with their rank and number of votes:
