Chariot Expands Into Regional Australia

[May 23] Australian Stock Exchange-listed ISP
Chariot Internet is set to gain a
significant boost to its subscriber base with the signing of a contract to
provide 10 new points of presence (POPs) in regional New South Wales (NSW).

The contract with the New England and Northwest Regional Development
Board will bring the number of POPs around Australia up to 40, with the
majority in regional areas.

Funding for the initiative will be provided by the Regional
Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund (RTIF), which will donate more than
AUS$750,000 (US$ 450,000) over five years towards the setup, establishment
and running costs of the project.

The new POPs will be located in or around Mungindi, Boomi, Gravesend,
Warialda, Tingha, Bundarra, Bingara, Walcha, Ebor and Pilliga.

The deal is in line with Chariot’s prospectus target of 50,000
subscribers and is part of the company’s strategy of developing through
regional growth.

Earlier this month (see

) the company released its new High Reliability Network (HRN)
technology, which Chariot expects will allow Australian businesses to have
the same levels of Internet reliability and security enjoyed by
international military organizations.
