chinadotcom corp. Thursday announced a
co-branded multimedia service with RealNetworks, Inc., bringing Internet
media experiences to its Greater China portal network.


RealNetworks will provide audio and video streaming on the portal network,
enabling the more than 2 million registered users of chinadotcom’s portal to
explore and search live and archived audio and video programming on the Web
via RealPlayer 7.


A wide range of audio and video clips will be available through the co-
branded services, including events, music and concerts, entertainment
programs, news, sporting events and coverage, films, health tips and
programs, as well as science and technology. Users will be able to choose
from the Real.com Guide menu which will direct them to the content and
programs that they wish to view.


Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

combining RealNetworks’ advanced technology with our portal network’s content
offerings to provide our users with superior audio and video programming,”
said Ms. Vicky Hung, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Product Development
of chinadotcom corp.


chinadotcom last week made its 22nd and 23rd investment for the company’s portfolio, just two days after it signed a major e-commerce dealwith The BigStore.com to create a pan-Asian e-commerce venture.


The company has more than 800 employees in 21 offices across 10 Asian markets, including Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan, as well as five offices and more than 200 employees in mainland China.


Major shareholders include America Online Inc., Mitsui & Co. Ltd., Nortel Network Corp., Sun Microsystems Inc., New World
Infrastructure Ltd. and 24/7 Media Inc.
