Cisco Middle East Offers VPN, Security Training

Jan 21, 1999

In recognition of the growing role of the Internet
and wide area networking in the Middle East, Cisco Systems Middle East will hold a training seminar on 25 January 1999
focused on virtual private networks (VPNs) and network security.

VPN technology allows companies to create their own office-to-office networks
using the Internet or third party network services.

Delegates at the one day seminar will review the benefits of VPNs and in
particular how small branch office networks can utilize VPN technology to
become part of an enterprise intranet at low cost. Cisco will outline how to
incorporate features such as encryption, compression and end-to-end quality
of service.

Another session in the program will review the risks which have led to the
growth of intrusion detection technology. Intrusion detection is the
real-time discovery of attacks on a network, and automatic countermeasures
to respond to those attacks.

Delegates will receive a briefing on the basics of intrusion detection
technology and how this forms part of Cisco’s policy-based networking
strategy, including specific training on Cisco’s NetRanger and NetSonar
products.
