COMDEX/Asia 2001 Starts Tomorrow

SINGAPORE — COMDEX/Asia at Singapore Informatics 2001, a three-day technology exhibition and conference in the region, will throw open its doors tomorrow to visitors interested in arming themselves with new IT initiatives for doing business in Asia.

To be held at the Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Center (SICEC) April 10 – 12, COMDEX/Asia will showcase more than 140 exhibiting companies from Singapore, Malaysia, India, Sri Lanka, Australia, Korea, Taiwan, and the U.S. and U.K.

Apart from several country pavilions, three product and solution-specific pavilions will also interest visitors this year: ASP Pavilion (analytic, vertical, ERP, CRM, collaborative and personal applications, as well as enabling technologies); e-Business Pavilion (Web site design, personalization, site and content management, and online sales and marketing); and Linux Pavilion (with products and solutions for the computing environment, and “mainstream” IT vendors developing solutions for the Linux market).

Product categories for COMDEX/Asia this year include:

* information appliances
* networking and communication technologies
* digital media and Web publishing innovations
* platform alternatives
* e-commerce applications and infrastructure

The conference program for this year’s COMDEX/Asia event include topics such as:

* ASPs in Asia: A New Business Frontier
* E-Knowledge: Issues, Strategies and Technologies in Digital Learning
* The Great World of Wireless Technologies and M-Business: Capitalizing on Revenue Opportunities

Keynote speakers for the three-day conference include Masood Tariq, APAC president of Nortel Networks; and Patti Dock, Business Division general manager of McAfee.com. Tutorial tracks at COMDEX/Asia 2001 will cover areas such as voice, data, IP protocols and architectures; and XML – the new language of e-business.

Jointly organized by the Singapore Information Technology Federation, Times Conferences and Exhibitions, and Key3Media Events, COMDEX/Asia 2001 will feature a 60-day Online Show to enable visitors from around the world to “e-ttend” at their leisure.

Also making a debut at this year’s COMDEX/Asia is internet.com’s Internet Breakfast Forum series. singapore.internet.com will host the April 12 Breakfast Forum on “Preparing The Way For Managed Services Providers – how you can leverage Internet Data Centers, network management services and data security to increase your business value.”

Sponsored by DataOne Asia and Webvisions, the Breakfast Forum will feature speakers Jonathan Leung (member of the MSP Association, USA); Michael Warren (deputy chief executive officer, DataOne Asia); Sebastian Yang (assistant vice-president of Business Development, Webvisions); and Daniel Svasvi (general manager of SEAsia Pacific, Nokia Internet Communications).

The Breakfast Forum will be held in room 301 (level three) and will last from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
