Commerce One Launches Euro Operations

Commerce One, Inc. announced
today its expansion into the European market with the opening of new
operations in Zurich, Switzerland.

A supplier of real-time business-to-business electronic procurement and
supplier management solutions, Commerce One said it hopes to have as many
as four regional sales offices operational within the next 12-18 months in
Europe.

The company said it will leverage partnerships with systems integrators
such as Price Waterhouse, Ernst & Young, and Cambridge Technology Partners
to develop a presence in the European market.

“We’re confident that our recent partnerships with Microsoft and
SAP, as well as our key systems integrators, will position Commerce
One as the leading supplier of electronic procurement and supplier
management solutions in the European markets,” said Mark
Hoffman, president and CEO of Commerce One, in a statement.

“Leading European companies have already expressed interest in a
comprehensive electronic commerce solution that can deliver the tremendous
return on investment our solution can. We expect that the Commerce One
Commerce Chain Solution will meet and exceed their expectations.”

Commerce One said Eric Meier-Ruegg, who joins from Apple Computers, will
head the European operation and be responsible for all sales, marketing,
and technical support activities in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
