The Computer Information Centre has launched
CompInfo-Center, a portal
for IT directors, developers, and others involved in the IT industry.

It will cover around 80 technical topics, with access to manufacturers,
suppliers, news and events.

“We aim to filter from the Internet the information that IT people at
all levels need to carry out tasks and projects — and we have organised
it so that they can deal with those tasks faster”, said Mike Kusmirak,
director of the Centre.

“Our target is for users to get easy and rapid access to the best sources
of IT information.”

CompInfo-Center links to about 400 IT-related magazines and e-zines
and covers the news on over 50 technology topics. One key feature is
its comprehensive directory of the support and Year 2000 pages of all
major IT manufacturers.

People seeking jobs in the IT industry in the UK can explore the
jobs and employment pages where over 1,500 IT employers are
represented.

“We think we have created the best single source of multi-topic IT-specific
information on the Internet, but this is a dynamic site and we will
continuously build and filter the information available and add important
new features,” said Kusmirak.
