ESD firm Digital River opened a new European office, located in London, with Ian Yarlott, former Intuit Managing Director for Northern Europe, as the general manager.

The London office was established in response to the heightened interest throughout Europe in the purchase, sale and electronic distribution software over the Internet, the company said.

Digital River’s London office will address more than 3,500 software publishers
and a significant number of resellers now operating in the European markets.

“The opening of the European office is a logical extension of our market
leadership position in online software sales,” said Joel Ronning, president
and CEO of Digital River. “This international presence offers tremendous
growth potential for us and for our partners in software e-commerce.”

Prior to his experience with Intuit, Yarlott held senior leadership positions
in Europe with GSI Republishing, IDG Communications and BPL Publishing.

Digital River said it offers “the world’s largest online database of software
products.” The company provides more than 1,300 software publishers and online
dealers with its proprietary technology for Internet delivery of more than
100,000 software and other digital products.
