Online broker E*Trade Group Inc. Wednesday joined with national Internet service provider EarthLink Inc. to offer discounted EarthLink Internet access to users who open an E*Trade account.
Terms of the one year agreement call for new E*Trade account holders to receive six free months of Internet access from EarthLink.
Both companies will also advertise the promotion to their visitors.
The deal is beneficial to both companies, said Jerry Gramaglia, E*Trade’s senior vice president of marketing and sales.
“EarthLink’s customers are ideal candidates to take advantage of the financial tools and services offered by E*TRADE,” he said. “By collaborating with an innovative company such as EarthLink, we have the opportunity to further our customer acquisition strategy by positioning the E*TRADE Web site as a true
financial destination for individuals looking to gain greater control of their personal investments.”
