In an effort to appeal to the growing number of users with mobile devices,
Excite, Inc. Monday launched an
application for users of the Palm VII organizer, the latest wireless
handheld computing product from Palm
Computing Inc.

With the application, users can retrieve their customized start pages,
which includes personalized stock quotes, weather, news, sports scores,
local movie showtimes, horoscopes and
driving directions. The launch is part of the company’s “All Band, All
Device, All The Time” strategy, according to Joe Kraus, Excite’s senior
vice-president and co-founder.

“Giving Internet users access to their personalized Excite information on wireless devices is critical to our strategy…,” Kraus said.

“Creating this application for the Palm VII organizer lets Excite users get
their personalized data wherever they are and whenever they want it. Our
goal is to extend the Excite membership
to our customers even when they are away from their computers.”

The Excite Palm VII
organizer application, available immediately, can be downloaded from Palm’s
Web site.
