Fujutsu, SAP Strengthen Partnership

Fujitsu and SAP AG  said they are expanding their services partnership to compete better in key markets.

SAP will tailor its enterprise applications to run on Fujitsu’s servers.

Financial terms of the deal were not made public.

As part of the agreement, the two companies will conduct joint sales promotion programs for targeted regional and industry markets.

Fujitsu said it will expand its force of SAP consultants to around 2,500 worldwide by the end of 2008, according to a statement. Fujitsu will also create a services unit in the Fujitsu SAP Competence Center at SAP’s Walldorf, Germany headquarters.

Becoming an SAP global technology partner means Fujitsu can offer customers complete support for SAP software installations, ranging from consulting and systems integration to IT infrastructure.

The move is “another important milestone in SAP’s growing relationship with Fujitsu,” said Leo Apotheker, member of the executive board and president of Global Customer Solutions and Operations at SAP.

The partnership between SAP and Fujitsu goes back several years, with Fujitsu contributing significantly to SAP’s core NetWeaver platform, an application builder that uses Web services to integrate business processes and databases from a number of sources.

The announcement came during SAP TechEd ’06 Tokyo.
