[Sydney, AUSTRALIA] Internet and media content provider HWW Limited today announced that it
had entered into a contract with Telstra to build and host WAP applications
and supply content for the Telstra WAP portal.
Under the contract, HWW will provide an “end to end” solution which involves
not only content, but a full service content delivery application and WAP
site hosting, as well as the right to sell and manage advertising on the
Telstra WAP portal.
HWW supplies and sells content on the Internet, in print, by fax and other
media to consumers, professionals and third party publishers. The company
owns high traffic revenue generating sites such as Your Mortgage Magazine
Online, Your Broker Online, Your Movies Online and with
John Fairfax and Sons, Australian Property Monitors.
The company also provides content management, design and computer systems to
Australian businesses, government departments and non-profit organizations.
The HWW content will be accessed via the Telstra WAP portal and will carry
national movie session times for more than 300 cinemas around the country
(Your Movies) and a live music, dance music and stand up comedy guide
covering around 700 venues nationally (Your Gigs).
HWW said the contract marks an important advance in the way in which the
company syndicates its content, according to the chief operating officer
Anthony Ghattas.
“The difference between this deal and previous content distribution deals is
that for Telstra we are not only creating and supplying the content, but
also designing and managing the distribution systems,” he said.
While the commercial terms of the agreement remain confidential, Ghattas
said the contract with Telstra would add significant revenue to a growing
income stream from high profile media companies, “all buying syndicated
content feeds across a broader range of delivery platforms.”
