SINGAPORE — Hong Kong-headquartered InfoTalk Corporation has made available voice-activated solutions for horse racing fans in the Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), accessible through its SmartCaller free phone service. Callers can access, in real time, horse racing results and dividends that are officially provided by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

“The addition of this new service to SmartCaller reinforces our company mission, further demonstrating how speech technology can empower everyone to access information, services easily over any phone, whenever or where they need,” said Alex Leung, founder and chief executive officer of InfoTalk Corporation.

“Voice-activated service is convenient as there is no need for a computer, or to listen and work through long lists of touch-tone menus, or to wait for an available operator.”

Available 24×7, InfoTalk’s voice portal SmartCaller enables customers to speak directly into their phones that use wireless or fixed networks to get prompt responses and interactive voice dialog. Other SmartCaller information services include real-time stock quotes, forex rates, weather info, Mark 6 results, Chinese almanac and horoscopes.

SmartCaller currently receives 120,000 calls daily, and is expected to register a three-fold increase in call volume resulting from the new service offering.

Powered by e-t@lk, InfoTalk’s award-winning automatic speech recognition engine, SmartCaller enables users to speak in multiple or mixed languages. According to company officials, more than 90 percent of the voice portal market in Greater China is powered by e-t@alk.

InfoTalk’s clients include Pacific Century Cyberworks HKT, Bank of China, Bank of East Asia, Hong Kong and China Gas Company, Beijing Telecom, Taiwan Paging Networks, Hong Kong Airport Authority and Shenzhen Airport. The company has offices in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Singapore.
