[Omaha, Neb.] — infoUSA, a provider of proprietary business and consumer databases, data marketing services and Internet marketing solutions has acquired Getko Direct Response of Canada from Cendant Corporation. Getko Direct Response of Canada, a Canadian list and data processing supplier for the direct marketing industry, was founded in 1991 as Syntony Marketing, Inc.
Vin Gupta, chairman and chief executive officer of infoUSA, said “This acquisition is consistent with our strategy of acquiring companies within our traditional lines of business. The Getko Canada acquisition brings to us data content, proprietary data processing solutions, and economies of scale needed to become the dominant player in Canada.”
Gupta stated “I am also pleased to announce that Jonathan Latsky, a founder of the company, will be joining our management team and will be in charge of our Canadian List, Directory, and Reseller Divisions. We plan to increase our presence in Canada with this acquisition and we also plan to accelerate our Internet presence with a complete redesign of our www.infocanada.ca site.”
infoUSA, founded in 1972, provides business and consumer information products and database marketing services. The infoUSA databases power the directory services of the generating sites including InfoSpace, Yahoo!, Microsoft and AOL.
The company has partnership agreements with several Internet companies, including Mapquest.com, DoubleClick, Network Solutions, Dell and Zip2 (a division of Compaq).
