Netscape Communications (NASDAQ:NSCP) makes its draft version of the Netscape Public License (NPL) available through mozilla.org for review. The license brings Netscape closer to its plan to let worldwide developers use its Navigator source code to extend the functionality and customization for different users themselves and harkens to the open philosophy the Internet is based on.

Mecklermedia (NASDAQ”MECK), producer of this report, acquires PCWebopaedia.com, a leading dictionary and search engine for Internet and high tech terms that allows users to type in key words and get definitions. The buy boosts Internet.com monthly Web page views to more than 9 million. Mecklermedia also announces its launch next week of NetSearcher.com, a vertical search engine for Internet industry and professionals to find info about the Internet. The official debut will be made at Spring Internet World in Los Angeles, March 11, the West Coast’s largest Internet trade show and conference event.
