J2ME for Linux Released

Sun said Wednesday that it has
shipped its Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME)
Connected Device Configuration (CDC) and
Foundation profile for Linux.


The company said it is aiming the addition to J2ME
at devices such as set-top boxes and Net
appliances in the home as well as in-car
applications and traditional embedded industrial
applications.


The company’s Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition
(J2SE) and Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition
(J2EE) already have Linux support. The J2ME CDC
and Foundation profile are available for download
from the company’s Web site.
