LighTrade, Looking Glass Interconnect

Bandwidth-pooling point provider LighTrade Inc. and facilities-based bandwidth provider Looking Glass Networks announced multi- year interconnection agreements in six U.S. markets.

Under the pacts, the financial details of which were not released, Looking Glass will interconnect to LighTrade pooling points in Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York City, Jersey City, Seattle and Washington DC.

Looking Glass’ presence at LighTrade pooling points offers LighTrade customers a broad range of rapidly provisioned metro data transport services including SONET, wavelength, Fibre Channel, Ethernet and storage area transport, officials said. In addition, Looking Glass’s connectivity to carrier hotels will enable LighTrade customers to connect to pooling points even if they are not located proximate to a LighTrade facility.

LighTrade’s pooling points radically improve network efficiencies by providing carriers and service providers with access to multiple bandwidth vendors and customers through a single connection, company officials said in a statement. The points also enable local- and long-haul carriers and broadband-service providers to switch bandwidth in minutes rather than months.
