Logica, Itqan Win Middle East E-C Contract

Logica and its regional partner Itqan have won a $4 million
contract with UAE telco Etisalat to provide a new e-commerce infrastructure.


The project, initiated by Comtrust, which is a new e-commerce venture of Etisalat, is expected to bolster Etisalat’s position as an Internet business hub in the UAE and the Middle East.


The hub will offer online malls, a payment gateway for
online transactions, customer support and a billing system.


Logica will deploy the system in partnership with
Itqan, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the AI Bawardi Enterprise
group. Trintech will supply the payment gateway technology and Intershop who will be providing merchant hosting. The entire hub will run on Sun Microsystems platforms.


Logica has also been retained by Etisalat for billing and customer support aspects in the development Etisalat’s PKI security infrastructure.


Over the last several years, Itqan has won the ISO 9001 certification, a
Microsoft Partner of the Year award and the Dubai Quality Appreciation Program Company of the Year, among others.
