Lotus
Development Software (HK) Ltd and System
Software Associates Hong Kong Ltd (SSA) have formed a partnership to
provide electronic business capabilities to manufacturers and distributors
in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China.
“The combination of SSA’s business process expertise, BPCS functionality
and Lotus Domino technology will result in some very innovative solutions
in areas such as mobile staff enablement, cross-organization and
inter-company workflow,” said Desmond Kwok, managing director of Lotus
Development Software (HK) Ltd.
SSA has a large share of the enterprise resource planning (ERP) market in
China with 100 staff in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Taipei
and more than 500 clients across the region using its BPCS application.
“We know from our customers that there is a strong demand for solutions
that enable them to leverage BPCS business information across multiple
departments and–using extranet and the Internet–extend it to mobile
employees, business partners and customers,” said Rob Luey, SSA’s managing
director for Greater China.
“At a time when the SAR government is encouraging Hong Kong-based companies
to transact business through electronic commerce, the synergy between BPCS
and Domino will be an extremely potent way to extend supply chain
management over the Internet.”
However, as one industry analyst contends, mainland China needs to develop
a financial transaction infrastructure to support the evolution of an
e-commerce industry.
