Israel’s Orckit
Communications Ltd.
is teaming with Lucent Technologies Inc. to market
Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line products throughout the Middle East,
Europe and Africa.

The partnership announced Wednesday calls for Lucent to market Orckit’s
FastInternet ADSL system, along with its own access and data networking
equipment to businesses and consumers in the region seeking high-speed
Internet solutions.

“We are pleased to join together with Lucent in a strategic relationship to
provide advanced, end-to-end ADSL solutions. This will enhance our
ability to offer comprehensive access solutions to our customers,” said
Izhak Tamir, Orckit’s president.

Wednesday’s agreement builds on a partnership started in 1997 when the two
companies cooperated in a HDSL trial in the Netherlands.
