Internet directory provider Switchboard Inc. announced today that Lycos Inc. will license its SideClick Web site searching tools.

According to Switchboard, SideClick will provide Lycos and Lycos-owned Tripod users enhanced Web site search
capabilities through a “related sites & topics” button located next to
search results.

Switchboard said users can then find additional Web sites that relate to
their search findings. SideClick analyzes related links from a database of
a million Web pages divided into over 5000 corresponding topics.

“SideClick is a good fit for Lycos and we are pleased that they have
chosen the technology to extend their service,” said Dean Polnerow,
Switchboard president. “Now a Lycos user interested in Franklin Roosevelt can effortlessly find more sites related to him directly as well as sites related to politics, World War 2, the New Deal etc.”

Under the agreement, Switchboard will also provide Lycos with its SideClick
Author product designed for Web publishing. Author provides tools for
publishers to use related site references with their interfaces, editorial,
chat, and e-mail content.

Switchboard, a subsidiary of Banyan Systems
Inc.
, is an Internet directory publisher of white and yellow page services that are used by America Online and Alta Vista.
