[Toronto, CANADA] Wedding bells are ringing within the walls of CanadaStartups.com’s downtown
Toronto office. Well, sort of.

Practically a dating service for the nation’s fledgling e-commerce outfits,
CanadaStartups.com is an online resource aimed at uniting Internet startups and
the people who can help them succeed. The privately funded company provides
its members with access to an entire community of startup-oriented investors, job
seekers and vendors.

Marking its very first match of 2001, Season Ticket Networks (formerly
Tickethippo.com), a CanadaStartups.com member, has secured a strategic
investment and partnership agreement with Headline Media Group Inc. The two
companies, introduced through CanadaStartups.com, are joining forces to change
the way electronic and season tickets are managed by major league sports teams
across the globe.

“This announcement represents a significant milestone for us, and
CanadaStartups.com played an important role in helping to make it happen,” said
Joel Milne, president and chief executive officer of Season Ticket Networks.
“Their role in introducing us to Headline Media Group will prove to be pivotal to
our future success as we continue to change the way sports teams manage their
season and electronic tickets.”

CanadaStartups.com isn’t the only company to get in on the matchmaking game.
Toronto’s 360 Capital Corp. recently launched its VentureLink Fund, an online
venture capital network for early stage Canadian technology, Internet,
telecommunication and biotechnology companies seeking funding.

Through the VentureLink Fund, 360 Capital will identify and screen investment
opportunities and plans to secure funding for potentially promising new entries in
Canada’s high-tech industry. 360 Capital will also submit pre-screened business
plans to a network of over 30 leading venture capital firms in the U.S. and
Canada for co-investment consideration.
