Online job portal Monster.com and ecorp plan to launch a joint venture career network in Hong Kong to gain a foothold into Asia.
In a project that is 35 per cent owned by ecorp, the online arm of Kerry
Packer’s Publishing Broadcasting Ltd., the pair will combine resources
to push business opportunities in Asia.
With a 65 per cent stake, Monster.com will launch Monster.com for Hong Kong, adding to
its existing operations in New Zealand, Singapore, UK, US, Australia,
Canada, the Netherlands, Belgium and France.
The site will offer job seekers access to Monster.com’s searchable jobs
database of employment opportunities in Hong Kong and abroad and other
employment services.
“Hong Kong is an ideal location for Monster because it supports many of
our global clients, Internet penetration is high and there is a strong
labour market,” said Monster.com chief executive officer Jeff Taylor.
Monster.com will tailor the Hong Kong service to emphasise the local
nature of the site.
“Managing your career is very much a local phenomenon,” said Monster, com
Asia Pacific managing director Tom Freed. “While Monster.com technologies
remain consistent throughout the world, content for Hong Kong will be
developed and managed by a local team.”
