Network Solutions, Inc. further expanded its global presence today by signing eight Asian companies to its International Premier Domain Registration Services partner program.
The firms include China Telecom, Hi!China, Hongkong
Telecom, China Internet Corporation, Hong Kong Supernet, Dacom
Corporation, Korea Telecom, and Singapore Telecom. They join six
Scandinavian companies that
launched the international premier partner program last week.
Modeled after Network Solutions’ U.S. Premier Domain
Registration Services program, the international partner program works to
speed the domain name
registration process and is designed to provide dedicated account
management with customer service to accommodate multiple languages and
international time zones.
“The premier partner program provides a business solution that allows
participating companies to better scale registration
services and reduce costs,” said Gary Hayward, Network Solutions’ vice
president,
international marketing. “Our objective is to help our marketing channel
companies make the registration process simple and
fast for end users. Asian companies are
increasingly focused on international business and export and need the
global Internet identity that .com, .net and .org addresses
provide.”
Corporate Asia is rapidly implementing Internet usage with 75 percent
of the top 1,000 companies now hosting Web sites, according to a recent International Data Corporation (IDC) survey. IDC
estimates that Internet sales for the business sector in
Asia will grow among large businesses from $83 million in 1997 to $8.24
billion in 2001, and among small businesses from $29
million in 1997 to $4.9 billion by 2001.
“Industry analysts estimate that there are currently more than 16
million Internet users in Asia,” said Doug Wolford, Network
Solutions’ senior vice president, marketing and sales. “We are very excited
about the prospects in this region as Internet usage
grows rapidly, and Network Solutions’ international premier partner program
will provide a platform for the future.”
