New Infoseek Search Engine Speeds GO Network

Infoseek Corp. Thursday unveiled a new, improved version of its Infoseek Search on the GO Network.

Infoseek said search results on GO have been improved by as much as 30 percent, and the size of the Infoseek search engine has grown 50 percent as well.

Additional improvements include term highlighting, which highlights precisely
where a search word or phrase appears in the search results summary. Another function, similar search,
offers users suggested queries which aid in providing more comprehensive subject search results.

“With today’s
announcement, we have raised the bar among Internet portals by providing
our users with a search and directory service that is more accurate, easier
to use, faster, more comprehensive and better integrated,” said Patrick
Naughton, executive vice president of products for Infoseek.
