PC Quote Inc., a provider of real-time financial information on the Internet, announced Monday it was changing its name to HyperFeed Technologies Inc. and is planning an initial public offering.

The name change is being made to align the company with HyperFeed 2000, the name of one of its most popular financial data feed products. The issue will be voted on by shareholders at the company’s annual meeting in June.

In other news, PC Quote said it plans to file for an initial public offering within the next 30 days. The company did not specify how many shares it hopes to sell or how much it hopes to raise in the forthcoming offering.

“In contemplation of the offering by our subsidiary, we are seeking the name change to further differentiate the entities,” said Jim R. Porter, PC Quote chairman and chief executive officer.
