Electronic Software Distribution (ESD) companies Preview Software and Portland Software said they have completed their merger and will be known as Preview Systems.
The new company’s first product offering, the ZipLock ESD System, is slated
for release in mid-July.
Vincent Pluvinage, chief executive officer of Cupertino, CA-based Preview
Systems, said: “The integration of our technologies and the two organizations
went extremely well, and we are now ready to provide our next-generation ESD
solution to our worldwide customer base.”
The ZipLock ESD System will provide an end-to-end technology platform that
enables software publishers, resellers and channel partners to work together,
while ensuring they can take advantage of emerging e-commerce trends like
remote license management, software rentals, pay-per-use, and subscriptions.
The ZipLock ESD System is designed to work with leading e-commerce servers
such as Microsoft SiteServer Commerce Edition, OpenMarket’s Transact and iCat.
Separately, Preview Systems announced a deal with France’s largest ISP and
electronic
distributor, Softway International. Softway will use Preview Systems’ ESD
platform to
enable online sales. Financial details were not disclosed.
Using Preview Systems’ new ZipLock ESD System, Softway will build an
electronic software download and commerce business that supports its two-tier
network of over 1000 VARs, integrators and ISPs throughout France and the rest
of Europe. In addition, Softway will serve as a reseller of ZipLock ESD
Systems.
