[Toronto, CANADA] — VideoNEXT and Rhythms Canada Inc. will provide videophone services over digital subscriber line (DSL) based Internet connectivity.
Using DSL technology, VideoNEXT’s agreement with Rhythms Canada is to provide VideoNEXT business customers with video solutions through an applications service provider (ASP) model.
The partnership makes videophone service, including multipoint conferencing, point-and-click dialing, video mail, streaming and surveillance, available over a single network connection that already offers high-speed Internet access.
VideoNEXT will work with Rhythms Canada’s channel partners to develop solutions for small/medium businesses. By combining a high-speed, high-bandwidth DSL local access technology with a managed network, Rhythms Canada’s services make it possible to use a single copper telephone line to transmit voice, data, and video over a single network connection at speeds ranging from 144 kbps to 7.1 Mbps.
Rhythms Canada is a 50/50 joint venture between AXXENT Corp., a wholly-owned subsidiary of AXXENT Inc., and Rhythms NetConnections Inc. Based in Toronto, Rhythms Canada is building a national digital subscriber line data network, offering DSL services to wholesale and large enterprise customers.
Through its operating subsidiary, AXXENT Inc. is an alternate Canadian local exchange carrier (CLEC) providing voice, data and Internet services that can be customized for small and medium-sized businesses. VideoNEXT is a private company based in McLean, Virginia, providing IP video services to small/medium-sized businesses.
