[Sydney, AUSTRALIA] Ecorp has appointed 32 year-old Simon Smith as the company’s new managing director.

Smith’s appointment follows the recent recruitment of Alison Deans as chief operating officer of the online trading community, and both will take up their positions in mid-October.

Smith is currently premium brands director with Lion Nathan Australia, where he has contributed to the development of the company’s brand portfolio.

Prior to Lion Nathan, Smith spent seven years working for McKinsey & Co in the U.K., as well as a one year tenure in Poland as a business consultant restructuring companies.

He holds a Master of Business Administration from a French University and a double first class Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Economics from Cambridge, U.K.

According to Ms. Deans, it is this combination of talent, experience and business acumen that led Smith to become the successful candidate. “It was vital to appoint a person who could lead a high growth business, relate well to the online environment and successfully manage eBay Australia to profitability,” she said.
