Snap! Offers Netscape Communicator

Netscape
Communications Corp.
and the Snap! portal
service today announced an agreement to distribute a customized version of
Netscape’s Communicator software.

Under the agreement, Snap!, jointly owned by NBC and CNET, will
offer a customized version of Netscape Communicator software featuring
Snap!’s default homepage, customized Snap! bookmarks, and tool bar and menu
item integration.

The free, Snap!-branded version of Netscape Communicator
software is available to download at the Snap! Web site, the companies
said. Financial details were not disclosed.

Today’s agreement marks the expansion of Netscape’s Unlimited Distribution
Program, which is designed to distribute Communicator freely to as many
Internet users as possible, Netscape said. The Communictor suite includes
Web browser, e-mail, conferencing and Web page design software.

“Key distribution relationships with companies such as Snap! demonstrate
the value of Netscape software and the strong momentum of the Netscape
Unlimited Distribution Program,” said Mike Homer,
executive vice president and general manager of Netscape’s Netcenter
division.

“With this agreement, Snap becomes one of the first portal sites to join
the growing list of online content providers, ISPs, OEMs, and publishers
around the world that distribute Netscape Communicator and Netscape
Navigator client software through our Unlimited Distribution Program.”
