StarMedia Network Inc. and Dell Computer Corp. Tuesday signed a joint marketing and e-commerce agreement to increase the computer maker’s presence in Latin America.

The alliance will effectively bring Dell (DELL) products and services to StarMedia’s users throughout Latin America. Dell will pay StarMedia (STRM) an unspecified amount for the one-year contract.

StarMedia will promote the PCs on its network through links to Dell’s Spanish– and Portuguese-language storefronts. Co-marketing and other promotional efforts will be developed.

Navigation tools, shopping cart features, price comparison, product configuration, and secure payment applications are among the features available on the regional Dell sites.

Dell claims to be the first PC manufacturer to launch a pan-regional, Spanish-language online store with a configurator solution that allows individual product customization. The Latin America storefront now accounts for more than 30 percent of the company’s total sales in Latin America.
